If you love to read, make sure to stop by and checkout a book from the Windermere library- Franklin W. Chase Memorial Library, named after the Chase family, well-known citrus growers in the area who had made generous donations for the library to be built. The Franklin W. Chase Memorial Library was officially opened on November 9, 1991 and is located at 530 Main Street Windermere, FL in the Town Square area, which is between Sixth Avenue and Fifth Avenue on the west side of Main Street. The library is open on Monday thru Thursdays from 10AM to 8PM and Fridays & Saturdays from 10AM to 5PM.
The Windermere Town Hall, originally the Woman's Clubhouse at Fernwood Park, is also located in the Town Square. It was originally built in 1922 and literally moved to its new location in the Town Square in 1938 and then renovated in 1997. The Windermere Town Hall is used for the town meetings, Windermere Garden Club, parties and local functions. While exploring downtown Windermere, Florida don't forget to read the impressive Historical Marker that the town of Windermere received in June of 1996 and installed in front of the Windermere Town Hall.
