Winter Garden is fast becoming a West Orange County premier Florida community with over 24,000 in population. With easy access to all the major highways, Highway 50, 429, East West 408, Florida Turnpike, and I-4, Winter Garden is attracting businesses and residents alike; in addition, it is located only 14 miles from downtown Orlando, Florida and approximately 20 minutes to one of Florida's largest employers, Disney. Picturesque Plant Street is a great place for a family stroll-walk pass the statuesque Clock Tower, relax by the fountain at the Centennial Plaza, or do a little shopping. You might even catch a little sidewalk jazz performance while eating at one of the outside cafés. Winter Garden is proud of its festivals and many parades. The Orange County Library System opened up its new 12,000 square feet Winter Garden Branch Library at 805 E. Plant Street in 2006. The beautiful library offers an abundance of programs for the entire family to enjoy. The library is open Monday thru Thursday 10AM to 9PM and on Fridays and Saturdays 10AM to 5PM. For the history buffs, Winter Garden features three historical museums, the History Center, Heritage Museum and last but not least the Railroad Museum, with more than enough information to absorb. It is here where you can read about the famous Historic Edgewater Hotel that opened on January 26th, 1927. The 80 year old Edgewater Hotel, located in Winter Garden, is still doing great today. The hotel once hosted the Washington Senators during their spring training season and famous movie stars like Clark Gable. In the late 1960's and early 1970's the hotel accommodated crews working on a little known construction project. Today we know that project as Disney World. The Winter Garden museums are open seven days a week for your convenience.

Winter Garden's own Garden Theatre, located on Plant Street, originally opened in 1935 as a movie theatre. It once had the famous Romeo and Juliet balconies, a Spanish tile courtyard and stars on the dark blue ceiling. In 1962 it closed after many renovations and the decline in attendance due to television. In January of 2005, the Winter Garden Historical Foundation acquired the theatre. The Winter Garden's Garden Theatre is now open for business and features 297 seats. Check below for show times and information on shows. The Garden Theatre is graced with an art deco facade and a Spanish revival interior. The Romeo and Juliet balconies, blue arched ceilings and twinkling stars have all been restored.

Traveling pass the northeast corner of the intersection of 429, 535 and the Stoneybrook West Parkway, one cannot help but notice the new Winter Garden Village at Fowler Grove which is a beautiful open-air Shopping Center Mall. The Winter Garden Village at Fowler Grove consists of 1.15 million square feet of dining and retail shops and has created over 2,200 jobs. Winter Garden residents now have the convenience of shopping and dining right here at our finger tips!

Winter Garden would like to welcome you to the West Orange Trail! Over 55,000 people have enjoyed this world-class 22 mile trail each month. You will find skaters, bikers, joggers, walkers, hikers and the physically challenged all enjoying the scenic trail. The trail goes through the communities of Oakland, Winter Garden and Apopka. The city Clermont, in Lake County, will be added in phase five. When completed the West Orange Trail will be 30 miles long and this multi-purpose recreational greenway will have a 14 feet wide, paved surface. Don't worry horseback riders; you will also be able to enjoy a parallel equestrian path. The path will be five feet wide and ten miles long, extending north and south of Clarcona Horsemans Park.

Two new recreational facilities for Winter Garden's growing population! If you've been traveling south on SR535 you will have notice some clearing going on at the corner of Winter Garden Vineland Road and Lake Butler Boulevard. They're making way for a 22 acre athletic complex, Braddock Park, featuring fields for softball, baseball and soccer. ( the park is now open) The dedication of the new park was held on May 22nd, 2009. The Jessie Brock Community Center is the other facility in Winter Garden that you will be able to enjoy starting around December of 2009. It is located at 310 N. Dillard Street, the former Dillard Street Elementary School. To name a few activities that you will be able to enjoy are - fitness programs, cooking classes, youth camps, landscaping seminars, pre-school activities, art classes, luncheons and senior citizen activities.
